Arniston House

[Arniston House from the north side]

The magnificent golden mansion of Arniston House has been the home of the Dundas Family for over four centuries, set amongst extensive grounds in Midlothian countryside close to Edinburgh. It doesn't seem to have made it into the various tourist guides yet judging by the low number of visitors. Undoubtedly a key draw is that each tour is (normally?) given by a current family member: we were lucky enough to be given a fascinating, friendly and personal tour by Althea Dundas-Bekker herself, having the place to ourselves even on a sunny July afternoon. Visit before the secret gets out.
