Glenkinchie Distillery

We're still not quite sure how to pronounce the name of this distillery - our halting attempt at a B&B in Edinburgh was met with a slightly shocked look. Glenkinchie is firmly inside the Lowland whisky region, one of an endangered species and one of very few available for tours south of the Central Belt. Despite a decidedly rural location, the distillery is only about ten miles from the Edinburgh City Bypass and a very popular excursion as a result. The basic tour is priced slightly higher than many in Scotland, but includes a good exhibition area and a large scale-model of a generic distillery as well as the real thing.
