Claypotts Castle

You can't go inside Claypotts Castle, but it's an elegant and impressive tower house that's much easier to reach than your average Historic Environment Scotland property. The lawn surrounding this 16th  century, Z-plan castle backs directly onto Dundee's ring road. This does detract from the atmosphere a little but it's maybe fortunate that it still exists at all - several other historic buildings in Scottish urban areas haven't fared nearly so well!
