Landmark Forest Adventure Park

[Landmark Forest Adventure Park]

Scotland isn't exactly well known for its theme parks, so it might come as even more of a surprise to find one in the Cairngorms National Park in the heart of the Highlands. It's very much a family affair, and if you come searching for white-knuckle thrills you might be disappointed. There's a small roller coaster and series of water slides, but many of the other attractions are themed around the landscape and its wildlife. A scenic treetop trail threads through ancient Scots pine forest, apparently with a good chance of spotting red squirrels. The trees' sturdy trunks also provide useful anchors for the highest of three high ropes courses, while climbing to the top of a fire tower gets you above the forest canopy with great views over Strathspey. A large butterfly house (new for 2016) added to the list of indoor parts useful in unkind weather. Many of the park's components would be popular attractions in their own right elsewhere in Scotland, so having them all included in one ticket makes it pretty decent value for money.
