Large woodland areas are rare in north-west Scotland, but Culag Woods on the south side of Lochinver is a notable exception. Over recent years the Culag Community Woodland Trust (who also created the trails at Leitir Easaidh) have developed an imaginative network of paths, sculptures and viewpoints, perfect for exploring in all weathers and suitable for all ages. The area is easily extensive enough to spend a few hours exploring, and it's worth printing the map below (reproduced with permission from the trust) to help plan where to go.

Name: Culag Woods ★★★☆☆
Location (main car park): South side of Lochinver, G.R.: NC 093220 ///plot.glance.carbon
Anything else? The main paths are generally excellent, though hilly in places. Some of the lesser-trodden routes are rough and narrow, with a little mud in places.
