To help support the future development of Scotland Off the Beaten Track, we are trialling the option of a voluntary donation for visitors to the site.

Please consider making a donation using the PayPal button below.

Why are we asking for donations?

SOBT will always be a free resource for all, with the aim of becoming the best independent online resource to exploring Scotland. We hope you find it useful.

Nevertheless, with over 1,400 pages and 1,700 places currently featured, maintaining the site is an increasingly time consuming task for a two-person team. We are therefore very grateful for any voluntary donations, which will enable us to spend more time improving and expanding our online guide.

If you'd like to make a contribution to Scotland Off the Beaten Track, please use the PayPal button below, which will take you to their secure site. If you use SOBT regularly, please consider setting up a monthly donation - even just for the price of a coffee - which gives us the security of a regular income.

Thank you in advance for your donation.

How will your donation help?

Your donation will help improve the site for everyone, for example by helping us to:

  • Add to the breadth of coverage of areas of Scotland which are more difficult to reach, and therefore currently under-represented on SOBT (primarily more remote parts of the Highlands and Islands)
  • Expand our series of "Help" pages - including articles around budgeting, to help you make the most of your money while visiting
  • Add interactive maps & public transport info to local area guides, helping you find & reach local attractions more easily

We understand there are far more deserving causes. We therefore very much appreciate any contribution you may feel able to make. Thank you.
